Thought you could get away with it, did you?” She pulled harder and Ryder cried out. “Yes, you’ve put my dearest sister in jail. All of the sudden her mood changed and she pulled at his hair, making the man hiss in pain. “So you’ve remembered, huh?” She petted him on the head like a good dog. The woman smiled as if he’d just presented her with the biggest, sweetest chocolate cake. He choked on the words, not able to continue. “You’re-” he couldn’t even finish the thought, the lump in his throat refusing to dissolve. The tortures, coldness of the floor, constant beating, questions he couldn’t answer and those blond hair and red high heels that he kept on having nightmares about! In his mind the events from 10 years ago played and he didn’t even realise that he started hyperventilating, his eyes growing larger. But the resemblance was so clear that he couldn’t believe he didn’t notice it sooner. He immediately knew where he knew her face from, although it was actually their first meeting. But what was it…? He carefully looked her over, the feeling of similarity growing when he glanced at her face, the blond hair curling gently around-Īnd then it clicked. True, he had a feeling there was something familiar about her. The brunette took another glance at the woman. ![]() “Don’t tell me you don’t see the family resemblance?” She waved her eyelashes at him. He found that offending but he couldn’t do anything because of the strong binds keeping him in place. But it doesn’t go both ways.” “Oh, Ryder,” the female chuckled again and ruffled his hair as if he was a naughty child. “Which leads me to another question: who are you?” He stared at her, his gaze cold. “I have a name, you know,” he replied sternly. Somehow he felt a hidden insult in it and couldn’t help but glare at her. There it was, the nickname she used back then. “Eh, accidents happen,” she waved her hand dismissively. “Do you mean that wound that you guys gave me? Right, I really need to thank you for that.” “Oh, yeah,” he rolled his eyes, not able to resist the hint of irony in his voice. ![]() You’d bleed out to death otherwise,” she smiled sweetly but he knew it was just a facade. Our fellow doctor, Gary, patched you up pretty nicely. She lifted herself from the chair and walked closer. “My safe haven,” she replied, unphased by his outburst. Last thing he remembered was a cold barrel of the gun pressed to his scalp. “What do you want?” He snarled back at her. “Did you have a good sleep?” She asked casually. The blonde woman was sitting on a chair backwards, arms sprawled on the wooden backrest. ![]() “Done checking?” A chuckle on his left caught his attention and he snapped his head to the side. He winced, remembering the bullet piercing through his flesh. A mild pain in his abdomen made him look down and notice the bandage tied around his stomach. It seemed that whoever tied him up, made sure he won’t be able to escape on his own, though. He cautiously scanned his surroundings, looking for any way to get these bindings off. He failed, though, and only then registered the binds keeping him from moving. ![]() With a startled gasp, he opened his eyes and tried to sit. Then, a recent memory rose to the surface and suddenly he remembered. He felt as if he was underwater, the thoughts lazily swirling around his head.
